Going my way

November 16, 2008 · 1 Comment

So the economy is really messed up now. I know. When gas was at a high, averaging around  ($4.20) www.gasbuddy.com we Americans began ito find ways of conserving gas, whether it was doing more walking, cycling or even car pooling. When it comes to traveling, we just find ways to get where we need to be.

Since gas prices have decreased, it takes about 48 dollars to fill my car instead of the dredful 62 dollars a year ago. Boy that saves me a pretty penny.(fuelcostcalculator.com)

I seem to get pretty uptight when it comes to paying high prices for gas.  I am trying to understand the whole economy issue and  the rising(now falling) oil prices.

What baffles me is the idea that those folks in the oil business keep getting richer or rather don’t seem to be losing out on a whole lot of capital. But we mere average people pay for they great investments. I bet they weren’t sitting around like me frustrated on having to fill up just a few days later of shelling out 60 bucks for gas. I know that wasn’t an issue for t

Barack or Bust

November 3, 2008 · 1 Comment

The title of my blog is what I been receiving via texting from many aquaintances who are die hard Senator Barack Obama supporters. Since i found out he was going to run for president there was very little I knew about the “man of change” who holds the Democratic senate seat in Illinois.  When it comes down to the the U.S. presidential race I am really trying to understand  Sen. John McCain and Sen. Barack Obama’s views on the economy, education, health care, and tax reform.  I truthfully am not trying to make this an issue about race , but we all know it is. I have listened to both candidates and I do certainly agree with Sen. McCain by stating this country needs someone with experience who knows how to deal with certain situations. I must admit I did chuckle during one of the debates when he said to Obama “this is no time for on the job training.” I believe that those who intend on voting for Sen. MCCain want some one who has longevity in politics and they want someone who is of an age that has experience certancy in life. Now Sen Obama is young for presidency and certainly hasnot had the life experiences that Sen. McCain has, but with all the changes that have taken place in this country, i think we need someone who is going to steer this country in the right direction. Not all change is bad. I agree with most that I cannot wait for the election to be over. I am sick of all the mudslinging between candidates and wish they would stick to the concerns of the American public. Who’s going to be elected?  Who ever is I hope they take their position and bring this country back on it’s feet.

New police chief vows to make positive changes

September 20, 2008 · 1 Comment

In local news,  Schenectady city officials swear in the city’s first African-American police chief. Mark Chaires, a 19 year veteran of the department, has been the assistant chief since 2001. Chaires is quite aware of the tough road that ahead of him, as city officials have also acknowledged the job for the new police chief will not be an easy one.http://timesunion.com

The Schenectady police department has been under fire with harsh criticism that the department operates unfairly. The department has been under the limelight countless times for scandals within the force.http://www.northcountrygazette.org/articles/2007/031607EvidenceScandal.html Even Chaires himself is considered to be an insider whom has worked along with criminals as well as other police staff in taking drug evidence from crime scenes. But Chaires has said that he is ready to rid the force of any luring scandals, and out of the 166 person department only a scarce few have blimished the credibility of the force.  There are currently three officers that are facing charges of misdemeanor and official misconduct for not filing the proper paprework when they were accused of beating a DWI suspect in December.http://timesunion.com/archives/secure/docheckout.asp?action=Get+Doc+Tag&dblist=TX2008_ALBANYTU&tagnum=200806210215&papid=albanytu&suffixes=false&synonyms=false&thesfile=savesufx.fth&view=rtemplate&templatetype=legacy&query=%28Schenectady+AND+police+department%29&outputtype=DOCXSLT

Well, I think no matter what the race or gender is of Schnectady’s new chief, there are going to be under the harshes criticism no matter what. The city of Schenectady is always in the media’s spotlight for negative positions.   But I think Schenectady residence  like many other urban city residence are sick of the scrutiny on their city. They are ready for the change. I also believe that after the few rotten apples are taken out of the police department. It too will also make a great change for the better.

Tourist killed in a bus crash

September 15, 2008 · 1 Comment

In Egypt a tour bus carrying 47 passengers crashes head on with a truck near the Red Sea Resort. Ibrahim Hassan, head of emergency services, for the southern part of Egypt’s Sinai peninsula, says of the 12 fatalities 5 were Egyptian citizens. The other 7 were citizens from the Neitherlands, Russia and the Ukraine.

Hassan didn’t give the time or the cause of the accident

Egypt has a history of alarming amounts of vehicular crashes, due to negligent driving, speeding and terrible road conditions.

In January of 2006, six Australian tourists were killed when their tour bus rolled on a highway near the capital of Cairo.

According to 2006 statistics at least 8,000 people were killed in accident. These were the most recent stasistics that were provided.

If this isn’t a story that makes you say hmmmmm.

First off, I just don’t believe that all these accidents were actually “accidents”.

OK, you have this country Egypt, like many countries in the world has a rich culture and will attract tourist, Why? Can you say the Egyptian Pyramids?. So this country makes lots of money in tourist currency alone. Not to mention that it has resources that other countries need. You mean to tell me that their cheap ass government can’t put that money into their roads. Now I am not the keenest when it comes to government and politics. I can’t possibly imagine what these leaders today go through to govern a country, but I do believe that the job is to provide for your countrymen. Sufficent roads is a start.

Considering all the fatalities, enough is enough. What are the police doing about speeding on hazerdous streets? I mean 8,000 lives gone, that’s 8,000 families that are mourning. That statistic was in 2006. I have a hunch that that number has risen recently. This is a tragic and sad case. What is more sad it seems as if  Egyptian leaders could care less.

Miracle at St.Anna

August 31, 2008 · 2 Comments

Director Spike Lee brings to the big screen, Miracle at St. Anna.  The film is about four African-American US Army soldiers, whom are part of the 92nd “Buffalo Soldiers” Division stationed in Tuscany, Italy during World War II.

The soilders find themselves behind enemy lines, when they are seperated from their unit when one soildiers saves the life of a young Italian boy.

James McBride author of the novel “Miracle at St. Anne’ penned the screen play, this film is a riveting story that crosses over all boundries of race creed and shows us that there is good within.

Iam pleased that Spike is bringing this story to film. In the wake of an election looming, It’s great to see a story about the struggles and triumps that Americans had to go through to get this country where it is. Many may disagree and say America is worst off. But I think it’s nice for people to see that there has and still is good in this country.
